The Union Ministry of Human Resources (HRD Ministry) had finally made an official announcement regarding the new changes made to the examination pattern of JEE Mains. The Ministry has made two significant changes in the JEE Pattern for the year 2017. As the new changes, from the year 2017, the Ministry will no more take the weightage of 12 class marks at the time of calculation in the ranks of JEE Mains examination.

Till the year 2016, the Ministry considered the marks of class 12 as weightage and calculated the ranks of the students in the JEE Mains examination. The HRD Ministry also made a new change regarding the marks of the candidates in the upcoming JEE examination. The change is that, the students who are looking to get admission in leading IIT, NIT and IIIT Colleges should have secured a minimum of 75 percent marks in the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced examination. Besides the weightage, HRD Ministry also made some changes to Aadhaar Card Enrollment as well. Check out the complete changes made to the JEE Advanced examination pattern in the year 2017.


Changes in JEE 2017 Mains Examination Pattern

Change 1: No Weightage to Class 12 Marks

The Ministry will no more consider the weightage of Class 12 marks at the time of calculating the ranks of JEE Mains Examinations in the year 2017. The candidates who are seeking to get admissions into various colleges and Universities from NIT, IIT, IIIT and many more, they need to get at least 75 percent of marks in the JEE Advanced and JEEMains examination. The SC and ST candidates need to secure a minimum of 65 percent of marks in the class 12 examination.
The candidates need to place in the top 20 percentile in the class 12 intermediate examination organised by the respective state boards. This rule applies to the students who are looking for admission into the IITs. For the year 2017, the same rule applied to get admissions into various NITs and IIITs in the country.

Change 2: Aadhaar Card Enrolment

The candidates who are the citizens of India must and should possess an Aadhaar card. The UIDAI issues an Aadhaar Card to all the citizens in the country India. In order to apply for JEE Mains examinations, the candidates must and should possess an Aadhaar Card. During the application process of JEE Mains 2017; the applicants need to enter Aadhaar Card number, date of birth, name of applicant and the gender of the candidate. All these details validate with the data present on UIDAI website and verify whether the Aadhaar Card belongs to that particular candidate.

If the particulars of the candidate in UIDAI and provided details do not match, the applicant cannot apply for the JEE Mains application form. The online application for JEE Mains has already commenced starting from 1st December 2016. These are the significant changes made to the pattern of JEE Mains and Advanced Examination 2017.
